I am heartbroken.

This is such a sad year with the loss of Toby and Bonnie and all our other classmates.

I crossed paths with Bonnie at both JHS 123 and James Monroe HS but, I didn't know her very well.  However; I did know her father "Mr. Lite."  He was my first Little League coach with the Soundview Little League. Mr. Lite was the first person I knew who had Polio as a child.  His knee did not bend and he walked with a limp but still he was so memorable and encouraging to me all those years ago. Mr. Lite's phone number is fuzzy in my mind but, I believe it was something like, TI 2-2299.  (Tivoli then three repeating numbers and then two repeating numbers.)  I guess no one is around to verify this.  I read about Bonnie's life today and I'm sure her father would have been proud of her, may she rest in peace.

OH NO!!!

I knew Bonnie very well.  We were friends.

Some of us reconnected when we were already cockers.  We met in the Midwest...Bill Fritz, Fran (Weissman) Doughty, Mike Moskoff.  We also tried to add Gary Salit, Bobby Allison, Ben Shelkowsky and Arthur Goldberg but were never able to put it all together.  Let that be a lesson:  Never miss a chance to share the love with old friends...never.

I wrote to Bonnie...so proud of her that she was a professor of English and Kansas State.  Mrs. Harris would have been so proud.  So sorry we never caught up.  Condolescences to her family.

And now Bonnie is gone.  OH NO!!!

I received a call two weeks ago from Bonnie's husband, Paul Nelson, telling us the very sad news. We had been in touch often - but not often enough- over the years. Bonnie was so succesful- with an outstanding career as a professor of English at Kansas State University and with her involvement in women's studies. She was a wonderful friend, and I miss not knowing that she is out there. Sincere condolences to Paul and to their daughter, Amanda. Their son, Matthew, predeceased Bonnie. I will always think of Bonnie with a great deal of love.
