I think about Loretta every so often because she sat next to me in Mr. Consagra's homeroom class during our sophmore year.  Loretta had a fantastic sense of humor, and one morning as we recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang "America", Loretta reached down into her bag, and took a bite of a chicken sandwich in her lunch.  She began to choke on it while trying to sing and eat at the same time, and I took one look at her and burst out laughing. Mr. Consagra assumed that we were making fun of the flag, which was not the case, but nevertheless sent us to the Dean's office and Mr. Ezerskky assigned us both to write compositions about proper respect for the flag, and to hand it in the next day. We did, and at that time received a lecture from Mr. Ezersky about how those in the service have given their lives for us.  We both said that we are respectful citizens, we are not Communists, and we are loyal to our country.  He then gave us a pass back to class, and we never heard about it again.  I enjoyed being with Loretta because she was so funny, and I remember a  day during the following summer that we spent at Castle Hill Pool.  She had lots of friends and when you were with her, it was a party atmosphere. She will be missed.
